During my bike ride, when I reached the suspended bridge and crossed it, I noticed a small sign with a restriction notice. The sign informed me that it was a private area and that walking or riding there was restricted. Luckily, the route itself wasn't blocked by any obstacles, so I continued my ride. But next time, I need to avoid this route and be much more respectful toward the owner of the field. After all, nobody wants some stranger passing through their property with a bike or, even worse, a motorcycle. So it's understandable, and I don't have any questions about that area. I also believe the restriction is reasonable, even though it creates some inconvenience.
Today, I spent the whole day trying to optimize my blog speed and improve its performance. But it wasn't a good idea to spend so much time on it because I didn't get enough good results in return. I was also forced to roll back some of my fixes related to photos. I figured it out a bit late and didn't notice that the modern image format WebP had changed my photo colors and made them look dimmer. That wasn't acceptable at all, so the better decision was simply to restore all the photos from the backup I had created before I started manipulating them. Naturally, nobody would notice the difference unless they compared them to the originals. But for me, it mattered much more to keep the photos as close to the original versions as possible.
In this post I already mentioned my work results, but today during the monthly meeting there was another discussion about our productivity. The CEO talked about the most important things that happened during the first quarter and said that the quarter was unsuccessful for the company. Honestly, I don’t remember that the main plan was not completed successfully during January, February, and March. In fact, the company achieved about 97% of the plan. Of course, it’s not 100%, but I don’t think it’s that bad. They also reported revenue of more than 110 million rubles.
A few months ago, I started using the Google Maps API on my blog to share my flights, routes, future plans, and simply show the places I’ve visited. Until today, everything had been working perfectly. I was careful with my API limits, but today I received a warning message — especially related to the Directions API.
I was using two different APIs: the Maps JavaScript API and the Directions API. The first one is only used to display the map and draw markers and flight routes. The second one was responsible for drawing car routes. The problem was that the Directions API had already been called 8,231 times out of the 10,000 free limit, while the Maps JavaScript API was used only 287 times. After reaching 10,000 requests, Google automatically switches to the paid version and starts charging money.
I started my last weekend day as usual. I woke up at 9 a.m., looked out the window, and checked the weather. After that, I went to the bathroom and did my morning routine. During it, I also checked my implants and the surgical area. The implants, as usual, stayed in place and didn’t cause me any problems. However, in the surgical area, I could still feel one of the three stitches. Two of them had already disappeared, but I could still feel the third one with my tongue. I even started brushing that area gently with a toothbrush.
After finishing my morning routine, I decided to rest a bit and watch some YouTube videos. First, I finished watching Good Morning America, which I usually watch during breakfast. Then YouTube recommended some videos — about Greenland, Kai Trump, and something unusual related to a girl’s health. I found it extremely strange that YouTube suggested this content. I didn’t really watch it; it was just playing in the background.
During the whole day, the temperature outside stayed around –6 degrees, and there was a small blizzard. While I was working, I noticed through my window how the snow was falling slowly and trying to cover the ground. The wind was blowing around the roofs and carrying the snow between the houses. Eventually, the snow covered everything, and right now everything is white. It really looks like winter weather. I want to believe that the snow won’t melt and won’t make a mess on the ground. If the weather stays the same, I think I can go sledding down a hill on a tube. I already wanted to go sledding last year, but I couldn’t find time for it. This year I definitely must do this activity.
Well, I don't have any news about me, everything is as usual, so now I want to share a review about my new headphones, Sony WH-1000XM6. These are my first headphones — before, I used simple wired earpods that cost $3 or $4. These new headphones cost $470.
Nothing unusual has been happening these last few days. I’ve started working again after a two-week vacation. The only notable thing is that I bought a GoPro 13 in the standard package. I also got a waterproof case for underwater filming and a small bag.
