Today I had surgery in my mouth to install implants
Yesterday I already mentioned my surgery, but I had some doubts about it because I was worried about my blood test results. However, everything went super-duper well and without any pain. When I entered the clinic, I hung up my coat and waited. The surgery assistant came down and gave me two pills — an antibiotic and an anesthetic. After I took them, I waited for her to invite me in. After about five minutes she came back, and we went together to the surgery room. She had already prepared my X-ray images and other important things. When I lay down, she gave me black glasses, put a special surgery cap on my head, and pinned a protective apron around my neck. After that, she prepared my mouth and teeth and injected the anesthesia. She also explained everything that would happen.
There was also a funny moment. When she injected the anesthesia and came back a few minutes later to check it, she started checking the wrong side of my mouth. She touched it and asked, “Do you feel pain?” I said, “Yeah, of course.” Then she said, “Oh, sorry, I need to check the other side.” I think she did it on purpose — maybe she just wanted to make a funny moment or something. At that time the anesthesia was already working well, and I didn’t feel the left side of my mouth at all.
The second part was with the main surgeon. While I was lying there, I saw him enter and ask the assistant, “Did you already take a photo?” I don’t know why they took a photo of my teeth — maybe they just want to compare my previous situation with the future one when my teeth are ready. After that, the assistant helped him, and I just felt how he pulled and pushed the old tooth roots, drilled my jaw, and screwed in the implants. And in the end, she put in the stitches.
I actually thought it would be more painful and take longer. But in reality, the surgery took around one hour, without any consultations. And I didn’t feel pain during the surgery or after. Even while I’m writing this post, the anesthesia has already worn off, and I only feel a bit of tickling or slight discomfort. I also didn’t see any bleeding. However, I don’t know how I’m supposed to brush my teeth and rinse my mouth now, because in my dentist’s instructions it says that I shouldn’t rinse my mouth or create any vacuum inside it. For this surgery, I paid $1,370.72 (or 110,000 rubles). I had a Brazilian implant (Riellens) installed.
