It happened: I was fired from my job, and now I'm unemployed
Everything happened in the morning. When I finished my morning routine, I noticed a message from Google Calendar. It said that I had a new meeting at 9 AM. It was really strange because I never had meetings that early during all my years at work. So I decided to check the participants to understand what was going on and why they had scheduled it so early.
But I already had some doubts that it could be a meeting about firing me, and honestly, it didn't surprise me. On the contrary, I was ready for it and had realized a few months ago that this situation was possible. Honestly, it wasn't painful for me. I accepted the news calmly and said goodbye to my colleagues on a good note.
Still, a few words about my work. I think it's important because I spent 2 years and 6 months there. Maybe some people will think it's not a long time; maybe others will think it's quite a lot. But for me, it flew by, and I didn't even notice how quickly the time passed while working with an old PHP 5 version all these years. In practice, I had already forgotten many of the new features from newer versions and basically traded some of my knowledge growth for a high salary of 199,000 rubles per month. Maybe it was the wrong decision to exchange knowledge for money, but at the same time, I gained valuable experience working with my colleagues. Overall, I don't regret working for this company.
Now, I don't want to look for another job right away. Instead, I want to invest this time in myself and try to improve my English without any work-related worries. Work always bothered me and never gave me complete freedom, but now I'm free and can finally try this experiment. Of course, I have no idea what will happen, but I need to try. I just don't want to be stuck in Russia for my whole life.
It was also strange because I wrote about my plans in case I got fired in a previous post, and now it has actually come true.
