My early morning trip to the village to harvest my relatives' potatoes
My morning began at 6 AM, when I had to go to my relatives' village to help harvest the potatoes. This meant being suddenly woken up right in the middle of a very good sleep before starting my trip. Also, nobody had told me the evening before that my relatives would be harvesting the potatoes today, but it's understandable, as they also didn't know what weather conditions to expect today. So, everything remained uncertain until this morning.
Luckily, my relatives' potato field wasn't very big. There were about 10 rows of potatoes, stretching for approximately no more than 500 meters. Because of that, it wasn't too challenging to finish everything in about 3–4 hours with the 7 relatives who took part in the harvest. We also didn't have to dig the potatoes manually. Instead, a special tractor dug them up automatically, while we followed behind, collecting them by hand and sorting them into three types: large ones, which we will eat; seed potatoes for next year; and small potatoes for the pets.
Overall, I don't think it was a bad experience to visit the village. Of course, I was a little tired after moving the bags of potatoes around the field and carrying them into the basement to store them. Still, the actual process of collecting the potatoes after the tractor wasn't too challenging, especially since there were enough people helping. Once the harvest was over, though, especially during the second part of the day, everything became much more enjoyable. I spent the rest of my time until 8 PM surrounded by nature and my relatives' gardens, and I also played with the cats. Along the way, I captured some satisfactory photos and eventually finished my trip with a traditional village bathhouse.
