I decided to compare my bike ride and walking experience by trying the same route both on foot and by bike

In this post, I mentioned that I tried to repeat my bike ride route by walking. So today, I decided to compare my experience while I still don’t forget it. Honestly, my experiment was interesting and a bit stressful, but it showed me that walking is a much more labor-intensive process than bike riding. Of course, I already understood that before, but I didn’t really understand the numbers behind it — how many calories I’d lose, what average heart rates I’d reach, and other interesting parameters about my body.

Screen from my walk

During my walk, I tried to repeat the same places as much as possible, and in my opinion, I managed to do it successfully. During my bike ride, I reached 12.72 kilometers, while during my walk, I reached 12.48 kilometers, which is already very close to my bike ride distance. However, I also got much more interesting and useful data, especially calories, and that surprised me a lot. Probably, it was related to the hot weather, around 30 degrees, and it likely played the biggest role in me losing 617 active calories. Even more surprising, when I arrived home and measured my weight, I had lost about 1 kilogram during those 2 hours.

My speed during the walk also wasn’t slow. It was about a 9:36 pace, and when I tried to convert it into kilometers, I got approximately 6.25 kilometers per hour. I have no idea if that result is fully correct or not, but AI said it was correct. Well, I don’t really see a reason not to believe AI. Because in real life, I walk so fast that other people usually can’t keep up with my speed. Still, while I was walking under the hot sun, I even increased my speed too.

About heart rates, I also need to say a few words, because that’s another interesting thing, especially with the diagrams. So I can’t leave it without attention. The first thing I want to say is that they were surprisingly similar. I honestly don’t know how it’s possible, but it happened. The second thing is about the diagrams themselves, because they weren’t similar at all. I think they clearly show that during my walk, I kept my tempo stable, while during my bike ride, the diagram was much more uneven. In my opinion, it happened because when I started riding and climbed hills, I was putting in the maximum possible effort, but closer to the end of the ride, my effort decreased.

I made one experiment where I tried to repeat my bike route by walking, and it was a bit dangerous, but successful

I decided to compare my bike ride and walking experience, where I tried the same route by walking and riding

In this post I mentioned that I tried to repeat my bike ride route by walking. So today I decided to compare my experience while I don't forget yet. Honestly, my experiment was interesting and a bit stressful, but it showed me that walking is a more labor-intensive process than bike riding. Of course, I already understood it before, but I didn't have an understanding of numbers. How many calories I'll lose, how many average heart rates I reach, and other interesting parameters about my body.

During my walk, I tried to repeat the same places as much as possible, and in my opinion, I could successfully repeat it. Because, during my bike ride, I reached 12.72 kilometers, but during my walk, I reached 12.48 kilometers, which is already closer to my bike ride distance. However, I have much more interesting and useful parameters, calories, that surprised me a lot. I think it shows clearly that during my walk I kept my tempo stable. And during my bike ride, the diagram was uneven. In my opinion, when I began and climbed hills, I did the most possible effort and closer to the end of my bike ride, the activity went down.
