It was my last day in Seoul; tomorrow I’ve got a flight to Kazan through Tashkent

The day started cloudy and kind of cold. The weather wasn’t great — around 22 degrees, with a cold wind hitting from time to time, which made it feel chillier than it actually was. Still, I didn’t cancel my plans to visit the last spots I had in mind from yesterday. Actually, I did the opposite — I started as early as possible and managed to finish everything before 6 PM.

Later, after dinner and on my way back to my accommodation, I kept walking around the streets of the district where I’d been staying all week. Funny enough, I had only properly stepped onto these streets yesterday. But today felt like the final walk — quiet, calm, just me wandering under the streetlights. There was something about the atmosphere that felt really unique, like one of those moments you know you’ll remember later.

The main entrance of Deoksugung Palace, full of tourists waiting to get inside

I’ll probably remember this day for the two people I met. The first one was… kind of strange. A guy from Russia came up to me and started talking in Russian about religion, war, and other heavy topics. Honestly, I didn’t feel like getting into that kind of conversation with a random stranger, so I tried not to engage much and just leave. He also mentioned that he hadn’t spoken Russian in a while and talked about possible new mobilization in Russia. What surprised me the most was that he said he’s from Bashkortostan — which is interesting because it’s right next to Tatarstan.

The second meeting was completely different — much more positive. It was a Korean couple who started talking to me in English. Their English was a bit hard for me to fully understand, mostly because of the accent, but I still caught the main idea and managed to respond. The funny part is why they approached me in the first place — the flag on my backpack. They thought I was from Hungary, since the flags of Hungary and Tatarstan look quite similar. I actually didn’t know that until today, so I guess I learned something new about geography.

It was my last day in Seoul, tomorrow I have a flight to Kazan through Tashkent

This day I started with a cloudy and cold morning. The weather conditions weren't good enough, the temperature was around 22 degrees, and the cold wind from time to time blew, which felt a bit chilly. But I didn't cancel visiting my last spots that I planned yesterday. On the contrary, I started my trip as early as possible and finished before 6 PM. Still, afteer my dinner and while I rode to my accommodations, I had been walking around the streets of my district, where I rented accommodation during the whole week. Even though it's a bit unbelievable, because, like, yesterday I first stepped with my legs on these streets. But today it was my finish walking where I spent my time around calm and quiet streets. Overall, it was just a great walk under the streetlights, and I felt a unique atmosphere that brought unbelievable memories.

I remembered this day with meeting two new people during the day. First was a bit strange. That guy was from Russia and spoke in Russian about religion, war, etc. Honestly, I didn't speak much about this topic with him because a strange guy came to me and started to speak about sensitive topics. It already was strange for me, so I tried to finish our conversation and leave. But he also spoke about how he hadn't spoken in Russian and about new mobilization that can happen in Russia again. Most strange was when he said he lived in Bashkortostan. It's a republics in Russia, like Tatarstan, and these two republics are just neighbors.

The second meeting was much more positive and interesting. They were just a Korean couple and spoke in English. But their English was a bit challenging for me. I couldn't recognize all the words, and their accent made some obstacles. Fortunately, I could take the main idea and respond to them. By the way, the main purpose of why they decided to speak with me was my flag on my backpack. They thought I'm from Hungary because the flags of Tatarstan and Hungary are very similar. I knew about it only today, and I updated my knowledge about my geography.
