The fourteenth day of ramadan — and a broken streak

Yesterday I forgot to mention my small Duolingo failure. It may not seem important, but for me it was. Since the beginning of the year, I had kept a perfect streak and really wanted to maintain it for the whole year. Unfortunately, I fell asleep again and forgot to complete my daily lesson. I woke up around 2 a.m. and realized what had happened, but it was already too late. I even tried to trick the app by changing the time on my phone and completing the lesson retroactively. It was a creative attempt, but Duolingo was smarter than me. Now I have one frozen day on my calendar — a small imperfection in what used to be a perfect record.

During my walk, I saw trucks removing snow from the city streets, slowly clearing the roads after the sudden return of winter

Today the weather was sunny but frosty. The temperature stayed around -10°C during the day and dropped to nearly -15°C in the evening. I didn’t expect winter to return so suddenly, but the forecast turned out to be accurate, especially about the temperature. Despite the sudden return of winter my day was calm and ordinary, without anything particularly interesting happening. Since there are no special stories to tell, I want to share a few thoughts about fasting.

I already have two weeks behind me. I don’t know whether that is a lot or a little, but it feels meaningful. This is not my first experience with fasting. I fasted during my school years, and I also remember fasting throughout COVID-19 without missing a single day. Back then, it felt more challenging because the fasting hours were longer than they are now. This year feels more manageable. I don’t find it especially difficult, except for waking up at four in the morning. That remains the hardest part. Still, I want to continue and complete the month without giving up.

Today is the fourteenth day of Ramadan. I missed my Duolingo lesson and some thoughts about fasting

Yesterday I forgot to share about my Duolingo accident. But today I want to start my post about yesterday. Maybe it's not so important, but I ruined my ideal progress that I kept since the start of the year. I really wanted to keep it during the year, unfortunately I fell asleep again and forgot to complete my usual lesson. I noticed it only after I woke up around 2 am, but that time already was late, and I couldn't do anything. However, I tried to trick the Duolingo app, but it was smarter than me. I just moved my phone time back and tried to complete my lesson. It was a good try, but it didn't work. Now I have one frozen day on my Duolingo calendar.

Today the weather was sunny and frosty. The temperature kept strong at -10 degrees during the day, but in the evening it dropped to around -15 degrees. I didn't think that the winter came so unexpectedly again and the weather forecast could be so accurate. Because yesterday I mentioned the weather forecast, and it came true, especially about the temperature.

My day was pretty calm and usual. I don't have any special or interesting stories. So I want to share some thoughts about my fasting. It's already my fourteenth day, and under my shoulders I have half a month of fasting. I don't know if it's a lot or not. But it's not my first time fasting, I already fasted during my school years, and I remember during COVID-19 I fasted without missing. In that time everything was more inconvenient, because the fasting time was longer than now. So I want to keep it, because I don't see any inconvenient things, except waking up at 4 o'clock.
