Cold weather has returned to our region — plus some news from work
Today started off cloudy, with the temperature around -6 degrees. Surprisingly, it felt quite comfortable and suitable for walking. However, the weather changed very suddenly and unpredictably.I honestly didn’t expect it, but after lunch, the clouds disappeared, the sun came out, and the sky gradually turned a clear, bright blue.It really made my day, and everything felt much more pleasant and positive. Despite the sunshine, the temperature kept dropping throughout the day. By evening, it reached -20 degrees, and it felt more like -25. Because of that, closer to night, I decided to bring my car battery inside the house instead of waiting for it to die. I’ve already had a bad experience with this before, so I know how unreliable car batteries can be in extreme cold. I didn’t want to repeat that mistake again.
Something pleasant also happened at work today. My team lead started clarifying details about a business trip to Moscow in March. Our company is planning to hold a conference along with a corporate party. I told him that I would like to attend the conference, but I declined the party. There will be a tamada there, and I’ve already seen videos from previous events, so overall it didn’t really appeal to me.
An interesting reaction followed from my colleagues. When I wrote about skipping the party, many of them were surprised. One person said, “Usually everyone goes there only for the party,” and another commented, “These IT specialists aren’t like other people.” I just reacted with a laughing emoji and didn’t explain my reasons. I think in the next few days they might ask me about it, and if that happens, I’ll explain why I don’t attend parties and maybe even share some past experiences.
Today the day started with clouds, and the temperature was -6 degrees. It was very comfortable and walkable weather conditions. But during the day, the weather changed radically. About it I couldn't realize, it was very unpredictable. So, after the lunch clouds disappeared, the sun appeared, and the sky started to become clearer blue. Honestly, it made my day, and the day was pretty sunny. But during the day the temperature also went to down. Now the temperature is -20 degrees and it feels like -25. So, closer to night, I decided to bring my car battery inside the house and didn't wait for my car battery to be discharged. Because, I already had a bad experience and I know what time the battery will let me down. Therefore, I didn't want to repeat my bad experience again.
During the day, something pleasant thing happened. My team lead started clarifying about the trip to Moscow in March. In that time our company decided to conduct the conference and corporate party. So I let him know that I want to go there. But I declined the corporate party. Because there will be a tamada participating, and I already saw videos from previous parties. So it did not attract me overall.
And another interesting thing happened with my colleagues. When I texted my message about the party, everyone was wondered. Someone responded to me, "Usually everyone go there only for a party" and another colleague said, "These it specialists aren't like to other people". I just reacted with a laughing smile and didn't explain why I don't want to party. I think in the next few days they will ask me about my reasons. If it happens, of course I'll explain why I don't participate at parties and maybe will share some experiences from this post.
- “Today the day started with clouds” → “Today, the day started cloudy” or “The day started with clouds.” - We usually don’t say “started with clouds” for weather; “started cloudy” sounds natural.
- “walkable weather conditions” → “comfortable weather for walking” - “Walkable” is understandable, but uncommon here.
2. Sentence structure & clarity:
- “About it I couldn't realize” → “I couldn’t understand it” / “I didn’t expect it” - Your sentence is grammatically wrong and unclear. “Realize” needs an object or clearer structure.
- “the weather changed radically” → This is actually okay - “Radically” fits well here.
3. Verb forms & prepositions:
- “after the lunch” → “after lunch” (no “the”)
- “the sky started to become clearer blue” → “the sky started to become a clearer blue” or “the sky became clearer and bluer”
- “the temperature also went to down” → “the temperature also went down”
4. Logic & flow:
- “during the day the temperature also went down. Now the temperature is -20” → Sounds confusing because earlier it felt warm and sunny.
Better to contrast:
- “Even though it was sunny, the temperature dropped sharply.”
5. Car battery paragraph (good idea, needs polishing):
- “didn't wait for my car battery to be discharged” → “I didn’t wait until my car battery was discharged”
- “I know what time the battery will let me down” → “I know at what point the battery will let me down” or “I know how unreliable it can be in extreme cold.”
6. Work & colleagues section:
- “something pleasant thing happened” → “something pleasant happened”
- “In that time our company decided” → “At that time, our company decided”
- “everyone was wondered” → “everyone was surprised”
- “These it specialists aren't like to other people” → “These IT specialists aren’t like other people.” - No “to” here, and IT should be capitalized.
