Today, I was stopped by a police officer while driving, which turned into a slightly funny yet stressful situation
It’s already December 26, and there are only five days left until the end of the year. I clearly remember the first months of this year — how I obtained my Schengen visa and traveled to Europe twice. I also recall my trips to several Asian countries. These experiences became some of the most unforgettable journeys of my life. Time passed incredibly fast, but fortunately, I managed to preserve those moments. My blog pages are now filled with travel stories, and, of course, these memories remain vivid in my mind as well. Despite everything, I truly enjoy this period of the year. I’m not entirely sure why, because the final days are usually quite hectic. Yet, I feel calm and comfortable. There’s a noticeable New Year atmosphere everywhere — decorations in the streets, people in a festive mood, and the pleasant realization that I’ll have long weekends over the next two weeks. It’s simply a wonderful time to slow down and rest.
My workday was relatively light. I started working at 9 a.m. and finished my tasks by 3 p.m. From 3 to 5 p.m., I took part in our online New Year party. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. Each department prepared creative New Year greetings — mostly humorous videos, short presentations, or warm holiday wishes. After that, until 6 p.m., our department stayed in a Google Meet call, casually discussing various interesting topics.
After work, I decided to drive to take care of some business. Everything was going smoothly until I headed back to the city. When I reached the central street, I noticed several police officers actively stopping vehicles. I quickly realized that I was too late to avoid the checkpoint. At that moment, it suddenly hit me — I had forgotten all my documents.
A police officer approached my car and asked for my documents. First, he requested my driver’s license and vehicle registration. I admitted that I had left them at home. He then asked whether I had any form of identification at all, but unfortunately, I couldn’t provide anything — all my documents were in my backpack, which I had also forgotten at home. He smiled slightly and asked where I was headed. I answered honestly and explained the situation. In the end, he warned me that if he encountered me again without documents, he would have no choice but to issue a fine.
P.S. I’m learning English, and I’ve shared the original draft in the comments for those who are interested
Today already December 26, before the end of year only five days. And I clearly remember first months of this year. How I got my schengen visa and went to Europe twice. I also remember my trip to Asia countries. It was just an unforgettable trips of my life. But the time flew extremely quickly and I had opportunity to keep these memorable moments. Now my blog pages filled with my trip stories and of course I remembered in my memory too. However I like these days so much. I don't know why, usually last days should be busy. But I feel myself comfortable, everyone has a new year mood, everywhere I see new year decorations and next two weeks I'll have long weekends. It's just a enjoyable time to rest.
My workday also was a bit light. I started my work at 9 AM and worked untill 3 PM. From 3 PM until 5 PM I participate in our online new year party. Online party wasn't bad, even I like it. Because each department made unusual new year congratulations. Usualy fanny videos, presentations or just new year wishes. Then until 6 PM our department continued discussion in google meet. Their everyone discussed about interesting topics.
After my work I decided drove to my businesses. But everything was good until while I decided come back to my city. And when I reached the central street in my city I noticed police officers. They actively stoped all vehicles in the road and I wasn't exception. Also in that time I already skipped my turn to avoide them. Therefore they stopped me and then I recall, about my forgetten documents.
Then police officer came to me and ask my documents. First he asked about my driver license and my car registration documents. I respond him: I forget it in my home. Then he asked about my any documents, but I also couldn't provide it. Because all my documents was in my backpack and I just forget it. He a bit smiled and asked where are you going? I was maximum honest with him and provide him all information. After he told me: if next time I'll see you again without documents, I'll force issue a fine.
What you did well:
- You told a complete story with emotions and details.
- Your text is well structured: day - work - police situation - conclusion.
- Vocabulary is good: memorable moments, unforgettable trips, decorations, stressful situation.
- Your main goal (to be clear and understandable) is achieved
Main problems (very typical for your level):
- Verb tenses (past simple vs present)
- Articles (a / the)
- Word order
- Some wrong verb forms (drove, participated, stopped)
- Small prepositions (in, on, to, from)
- These are normal mistakes, not serious ones.
2. Common mistakes explained
- “during my drove a car” -> while I was driving or when I was driving (During + noun, not a verb)
- “fan and stressful situation” -> funny and stressful situation (fan ≠ funny)
- “Today already December 26” -> Today is already December 26 (English needs a verb (is))
- “Asia countries” -> Asian countries (Adjective form: Asian)
- “It was just an unforgettable trips” -> They were unforgettable trips OR It was an unforgettable trip (Singular vs plural consistency)
- “I had opportunity” -> I had an opportunity (Countable noun - needs a / an)
- I feel myself comfortable” -> I feel comfortable (In English, we don’t use myself here)
- “I participate” -> I participated (Past simple (finished action))
- “Then police officer came” -> Then a police officer came (First mention - use a)
