My hands are literally itching to share this… how I skipped part of my work today

Today the weather was sunny, and it was a busy day. After my morning meeting, I couldn’t start my work tasks. Instead of working on my tasks, I worked on my own personal tasks. I can explain what happened, but first, I want to say what I did with my blog. I finished the text for my “About Me” page and will publish it soon. Second, I started exploring the Google Maps API because I want to update a map to show my flight routes. I hope it will be very interesting and interactive.

Now about my work. Why couldn’t I do my work tasks? I just couldn’t bring myself to do them. My personal tasks were more interesting, so I decided to complete them first. Until lunch, I skipped 2 hours of work, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Usually, 12 PM is my lunch time, but today I decided to work through lunch because I needed to make up for the 2 hours I skipped. I managed to complete 1 hour of work, so now I have 1 hour left, which I’ll work on tomorrow during lunch.

I don’t think anything critical happened, and I hope skipping 2 hours didn’t cause any damage to the company. I’ve already partially made up for those hours. Honestly, if my team lead saw this text, I’d probably panic—but I’ve never heard of anyone being fired just for skipping a couple of hours.
