Belgrade: Where Europe Meets Russia

I finally made it to Serbia and I’m currently in Belgrade. The city is quite interesting; it feels like a blend of European and Russian influences. The first thing that caught my eye was the flowers on balconies and even in the hallway of the apartment I rented. These little details create a special atmosphere and make you feel different.

A beautiful view of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers

I also noticed that the city is full of graffiti, sometimes covering entire building facades. It gives Belgrade a unique character and makes walking around even more interesting. In some areas, the graffiti carries cultural and historical meaning, giving you a deeper understanding of the local life. It feels like street art is an essential part of the city's culture.

As for the cost of living, it’s not cheap here. Renting a two-bedroom apartment for two weeks cost me 700 dollars. The food delivery and taxi services work great. There are various apps for this, and what surprised me the most is that the Russian app Yandex Taxi works here, and you can even pay with a Russian debit card. I liked Belgrade, and I’ll definitely return in the future.
