The wooden floor is much more comfortable and interesting than a stone floor, so I rebuilt my balcony floor and decided to keep it
During the day, I rebuilt the wooden floor, which had dried out over the last ten years, and cracks of about 1–2 centimeters had appeared between the boards. Also, the floor made loud creaks whenever anyone walked on it, and even worse, it had started to sag. So I disassembled all the old boards, cleaned the nails out of them, and built a new floor. Of course, I used the same boards because they were still in good condition and looked pretty good. Even the smell of the type of wood used for the boards was still strong and pierced my nose. But this time I used self-tapping screws instead of nails to fasten the boards, as they are much more practical and convenient to use. Now the floor has no cracks or creaks, and walking on it is much more comfortable than before.
As I spent the whole day at home working until 6 PM, I ended up missing part of my usual routine, especially my English practice. I don’t like skipping it, even for just one day, so I tried to make up for it while I was still working. I put on my headphones and started listening to podcasts and a few other videos. However, it didn’t last long, because the whole room was filled with dust from the old wooden floor, and it simply wasn’t comfortable. I didn’t want to keep wearing my headphones in such a dusty, enclosed space, and after a while it felt like my ears were boiling under them. Instead of helping me focus, they became another distraction. So I took them off, put them aside, and continued working in silence. Sometimes it’s simply better to finish the job first and return to your routine later.
