I started my new workday in pretty unpleasant weather right after coming back from vacation, and at the same time found out about the earthquake in Japan
Since I got back, the weather in my city has been gloomy, and next week doesn’t look any better — just clouds and rain, almost like autumn showed up uninvited. I was really hoping to get back into riding my bike around the city, maybe even take a few routes through the forest, but that didn’t happen. Instead, I ended up spending the evening at home in front of my laptop, watching YouTube. It’s ironic, because during my trip I barely had time for screens, and now I’m right back to it. To be honest, that’s the last thing I want — I’d much rather be outside, walking, breathing fresh air, and enjoying warm, sunny days.
Earlier today, I also came across news from Japan on Telegram. There was a strong earthquake near the northern coast, around 7.5 in magnitude, and even a tsunami warning was issued. From what I read — and from people posting on Reddit — the tremors were felt as far as Tokyo, while those closer to the epicenter described it as really unsettling and intense. Thankfully, I didn’t see any reports or footage of an actual tsunami, which is at least some relief. I can imagine how frightening it must have been, especially because I went through something similar myself during the Turkey–Syria earthquake on February 6, 2023. That experience, with the aftershocks and everything, was truly overwhelming — one of the most intense and disturbing events I’ve ever lived through abroad.
I started new work day with unpleasant weather conditions after my vacation and knew about eartquake in Japan
The weather in my city hasn't been good since I arrived, and next week the weather predicts cloudy and rainy days. I didn't hope to see the days like an autumn and spent my time at home, but unfortunately it happened. Honestly, I hoped that after my arrival, I could ride my bike around city streets and maybe even through forests. But my wishes didn't come true, instead, I just spent my evening at home, in front of my laptop, watching some YouTube videos. Of course I already forgot about these feelings because during my trip I didn't have much opportunity to spend time behind a laptop. To be honest, I don't want to spend my time around my laptop, instead, I prefer to go for a walk and be in fresh air or just enjoy sunny, warm nature.
Today I also noticed news about Japan from Telegram channels. That there near the North Shore, an earthquake with 7.5 magnitude happened, and the risk of a tsunami was also announced. However, according to the news and some residents from my subscribed Reddit topics, it was felt even in Tokyo. But some residents and tourists who were closer to the epicenter described it like a very disturbing sensation and alarming feeling. Fortunately, I didn't see any videos or messages about the tsunami, that's already good and positive news. Of course I can understand them, because I also felt an earthquake and a series of aftershocks myself at the Turkey-Syria earthquake on 2023, 6 February. It was just a disaster and one of the terrible events that I met abroad.
