My observations about a local halal café and a shopping day as my vacation was nearing its end

Today ended up being a shopping day, so everything felt pretty calm, but also more expensive than I expected. Honestly, I hadn’t planned to spend that much money, but it all happened spontaneously, and I really wanted to keep updating my wardrobe. I ended up buying some essential clothes from brands that left Russia after February 2022, and since I can’t find them back home anymore, it felt like the right decision to get them now. Still, this led to another problem — how I’m going to bring everything back on the plane. I don’t have any checked luggage, and my backpack is already full and overweight, so now I have to figure out where to fit all these new clothes and somehow get them home without issues.

A busy street full of cars at sunset — probably people heading home from work

While walking around the city and shopping, I also came across a few interesting places, and I even took some photos. The most curious observation, though, was at a café I visited later in the evening. I don’t usually enjoy going to cafés alone and just sitting there, but this time I actually liked the experience and the food was pretty good overall. What caught my attention, however, was that the menu included alcohol. In my understanding, if a place serves alcohol, it can’t really be considered halal, so calling it a halal café feels a bit off. It seems like they might interpret halal in a very limited way — as long as there’s no pork, they assume it qualifies. Either way, I think they should rethink what halal food actually means.

Nice place. I took this photo along the embankment, but I’m not sure of the exact location

My observations about the local halal cafe and I had a shopping day because my vacation was closer to ending

Today I had a shopping day, so it was calm and expensive enough. Honestly, I didn't want to spend so much money, but it happened spontaneously, and I wanted to continue updating my wardrobe. I bought some necessary clothes from my usual shops that left Russia after February 22, and I can't find them in Russia now. Therefore it was the best decision to buy them now, but I have another problem. How do I need to bring them with me on the airplane? Because I don't have luggage and my backpack is already full and overweight. Now I need to think about where I can put my clothes and successfully bring them home.

During the day, while I walked around the city and bought things, I found some interesting places. About them, I attached some photos, but the most interesting observation about the food in the cafe happened. Of course I don't like to go to a cafe alone and spend the time behind the table. But today I visited and enjoyed the food during my dinner. To be honest, the food wasn't bad, I liked everything, but I found alcohol on the menu. In my opinion, if they are selling alcohol, it's already not halal, and after it, providing themselves a halal food establishment is a bit wrong. Probably their imagination is a bit off, and they just are thinking, If it's not pork, then it's already halal. Anyway, they need to rethink what halal food is.
