My family and I visited Kazan, and this is my personal observation about that day
The day was very busy and a bit difficult. I spent almost the entire day in Kazan—from 12 PM until 9 PM. However, I left home around 10 AM. I woke up at about 9 AM, which was quite late for me, so I had only one hour for my morning routine, and that wasn’t enough. I had many routine tasks that morning and couldn’t finish them without rushing. I started by brushing my teeth, which is always the first thing I do after waking up. Then I shaved my face because my beard had grown quite a lot, and I hadn’t shaved recently. After that, I took a shower and had breakfast. Since I had to visit the dentist after breakfast, I brushed my teeth again. All of this took more than an hour, so I ended up being late. I had planned to hit the road as early as possible, but everything turned out the opposite way. I finally left home at about 10:15.
During the drive, everything was mostly fine. The road was quite empty, even though it was Saturday and just before the New Year holidays. However, in some places the road was covered with snow. It was annoying when I suddenly drove into snow at high speed. Also, when I tried to accelerate while turning, the car started to skid. At that moment, the dashboard showed some errors (ESP and ABS) and made creepy sounds. I personally found it funny, but my family definitely didn’t appreciate it.
I finally reached Kazan at 11:30 AM. Because of snowy and dirty city streets, I arrived a bit late. My appointment was at 12 PM, but I got there at 12:10. As usual, the staff greeted me warmly and offered coffee, tea, or water, but I declined. After the dentist examined the problem area in my mouth and took X-ray images, he told me everything was fine. I now have another appointment scheduled for January 27. This time it will be surgery on my lower jaw, where I need to install two more implants.
After the dentist’s office, I went to eat because I was starving and ready to eat anything. I went to my favorite place, Rostic’s, and spent about 30–45 minutes there. Then I drove to my relatives’ place. During the drive, I was worried about the fuel level. The tank was almost empty, and the dashboard showed 0 kilometers left. I wanted to fill it up, but I couldn’t find a gas station on the way, so I was forced to wait until I reached my relatives’ house. Luckily, there was a gas station nearby.
At my relatives’ house, they really annoyed me. They constantly try to find a girlfriend for me and keep talking about marriage. My family does the same. I tried to explain my plans, but they didn’t listen and only shared their own opinions: that I need to start a family, have children, that women should give birth early, that I can’t travel my whole life, that every man should have a wife, and that being alone is very hard. Because of this, I tried to escape from that place as early as possible and avoid listening to their old-fashioned ideas.
Our last activity was visiting some shops, where we bought a few things for home and some plants. Of course, I couldn’t skip the central New Year tree — I wanted to take some photos and walk around a bit. However, everything was quite predictable. The parking was paid: 15 minutes free and then 100 rubles per hour. Also, I couldn’t find anything interesting. There was nothing special except the New Year tree, and even that was the same as last year, with broken lights.
P.S. I’m learning English, and I’ve shared the original draft in the comments for those who are interested
This day was so busy and a bit difficult. Because I spent all my day in Kazan from 12 PM until 9 PM. But I left my home and went to road around 10 AM. And my woke up was approximately 9 AM, it was a bit late. So I had just hour for my routine and that time was not enough for me. I had so many routine this morning and couldn't complete it without rush. I started with brushing the teeth, it's my first activity after wake up. Then shaved my face, because my face was grew up. And I didn't shave my face around wake. After I took a shower and ate my breakfast. Since I should visit the dentist after my breakfast I brushed my teeth again. All these routine took more than hour, so I was a bit late. I planned went to road more early as it possible. But everything turn out opposite way. I could went my home at 10:15.
During the drive a car everything wasn't bad. The road was empty, even it was Saturday and before the New Year holidays. But some places of road was covered with snow. So it was a bit annoying, when you flew into snow at high speed. And also when you tried to add some acceleration during the turn the car started skid. In that time car's dashboard show me some errors (ESP, ABS) and made creepy sounds from these systems. Generally it was funny for me, but my family didn't appreciate it.
Finally I reached Kazan at 11:30 AM and during my drive around the snowy and unclean city streets I was a bit late. Because my appointment time was at 12 PM but I reached it at 12:10. As usual they greeted me warmly, asked about coffee, tea or water. But I declined their offers. After dentist examined my sugared area in my mouth, x-ray pictures and told me everything is okay. Now I have another appointment for my new surgery on January 27. It's already about my bottom jaw. There I need to install extra two implants too.
After dentist's office I went to eat. Because I was starving and I was ready to eat anything. So I went to my favorite place Rostic's and spent 30-45 minutes. After I arrived to my relatives. Also during my drive, I had some worries about my car tank. It was empty and my car's dashboard showed me 0 kilometers left. I wanted fill up it but on my way I couldn't find gas stations. So I was force to waite untill my relatives place. There was gas station near the home.
In my reletives house they're just pissing me off. Because they all time want to find for me a girlfrend and remembering about marriage. And my family too! I tried explain them about my plans, but they don't hear me and just told me about themselves meanings. About I need to make family, make kids, how the girl should give birth earlier, you can't go to trips all life, each man should has a wife, be alone all life it's so hard and other similar things. Therefore I tried escape from that place earlier as it was possible, and didn't hear their old-fashioned ideas.
And our last activity after visiting relatives was visit some shops. Where we're bought some things for home and plants. Of course I couldn't skip the central New Year tree, because I wanted to take some photos. And just walked around the New Year tree. However happened understandable things. The parking area was only for pay, 15 minutes free and each hour 100 rubles. Second, I couldn't find something interesting; there wasn't anything except a New Year tree. Even the New Year tree was the same as last year with broken lights.
What you did well
- The story is logical and chronological
- You use past tense consistently (good!)
- You can explain complex situations (driving, dentist, relatives)
- Your meaning is almost always clear
What to improve
- Too many literal translations from Russian/Tatar
- Wrong verb forms (“could went”, “was grew up”)
- Articles (a / the) are often missing
- Many phrases are unnatural, even if understandable
- Some repetition and very long sentences
2. Typical mistakes (important!
I’ll show your version → correct version
Verb forms
- I could went my home → I could go home
- my face was grew up → my beard had grown
- everything turn out opposite way → everything turned out the opposite way
Wrong words
- went to road → hit the road / left home
- routine (countable) → routine tasks / my routine
- sugared area → problem area / sensitive area
- reletives → relatives
- force to waite → forced to wait
Articles
- visited dentist → visited the dentis
- during drive → during the drive
- find gas stations → find a gas station
Style (too direct / unnatural)
- they’re just pissing me off → understandable, but too strong for neutral writing
- better: they really annoyed me
