My first work day after vacation, and a little about my English learning journey

Today was my first work day after my vacation. I worked all day from 9 AM until 6 PM, with a break between 12 PM and 1 PM. In the first part of the day, I returned to my old tasks that I couldn’t finish before my vacation and refreshed my memory about them. In the second part of the day, I had a meeting about how we can stop using Google services. Instead, they want to switch to Russian local services from Yandex. If you don’t know, Yandex is a Russian company that is very similar to Google, but smaller. This change is happening because the Russian government is trying to push companies and citizens to use local IT services. It’s more useful for the government because they can control everything.

The day itself was pretty comfortable, not hard, and the weather was sunny as usual. I was even surprised because I never saw so many sunny days here in autumn. I think it’s called an Indian summer if I’m correct. Unfortunately, today I couldn’t go for a walk, and enjoed with this sunny day. And I’m not sure if I will be able to in the next days. Maybe if I’m lucky, I can walk during my break time.

As you already know, I have an English book called The Best Stories of Sherlock Holmes, and I try to read it every day. While I was listening to myself from a recording, I noticed how I mispronounced many words. So, I decided to mark all strange or difficult words for pronunciation while I read. After that, I want to check each word’s correct pronunciation using Google Translate or other services. My plan is to write the transcription above each word. Next time when I read, I hope I can pronounce them correctly and improve my speaking.
