After Serbia, I went to Montenegro, to the city of Podgorica, and this trip was a real surprise for me! The first thing that struck me was the silence and calm in the country on Sundays. It felt like even the shops decided to take the day off.
When I arrived in Podgorica, the adventure began. At first, I couldn’t get a taxi from the airport — all the apps were either not working or very slow. After an hour of struggling, I had to catch a taxi right at the airport. The driver was in a hurry, didn’t really know how to drive, and was going way too fast. At one point, I was genuinely scared. The ride cost me 15 euros for about 10 km.
We booked an apartment through Airbnb. It was in the center, spacious, new, and clean, with everything we needed — towels, dishes, toiletries. We were happy with it overall, and it cost 600 euros. But finding the entrance was not easy: we had to run up and down the floors. Plus, there was no elevator, so we carried our bags up to the sixth floor.
The delivery service, however, was a disappointment. The couriers couldn’t find the apartment, so we had to go out and meet them. Even when we left clear instructions, they struggled to find the right entrance. Sometimes, if they couldn’t find it, they would just cancel the order and leave — no refund, meaning you could end up hungry and out of money. Also, shops don’t work on Sundays, which was new to me.
Podgorica is a small city, but it feels cozy, with mountains and beautiful views around. You can pay everywhere in euros, which is convenient, as there’s no need to exchange money. The city even has Tesla taxis, which was interesting to see. There’s an app that makes it easy to order a ride and enjoy a Tesla tour around town.
